Dr. Rochelle Almeida, Professor of South Asian Studies at New York University has been posted to London next year as a Visiting Professor. While there, she intends to accomplish two things:
1. Launch a new Sophomore Seminar on Anglo-Indians which will introduce her students to the history of Anglo-Indians and their representations in fiction and film.
To make this course meaningful for her students, she would like them to have the opportunity to link up with Anglo-Indians in different parts of the world with whom they could make a connection--either in person (if they happen to be London-based) or through cyberspace. Any Anglo-Indians willing to buddy up with New York University students through this project are requested to send their names and email addresses to Rochelle. She will them pass one address to each of her students who will then attempt to reach out to you and create a bond with you online.
2. Rochelle herself is working on a research project which involves a comparative ethnographic inquiry into the impact of immigration to the UK on Anglo-Indians. While she is London-based, she hopes to meet with UK-based Anglo-Indians who would be willing to share their stories with her either in person (through personal interviews) or online through email contact. There is a good possibility that this research project might lead to the publication of Rochelle's next scholarly book.
If you are willing to participate in either one of these projects, please contact Rochelle through email at the following address:
